WARDED TO THE INQUISITORIAL SQUAD
The Carrows have informed me that all members of the IS not doing Rounds are to attend Sunday detention in order to help manage the individuals who will be serving. I was told that everyone is to bring their wands and come prepared to deal with chronic troublemakers.

With all of us there, it shouldn't be so bad.

What do you think that they'll do to those of us who are well-behaved but can't do it?

It's not an easy spell to master, Pansy. I doubt they're going to punish anyone who is actually trying.

I want to be a good example. But it's really difficult. I don't think I could do it on a person.

I'd rather learn from you than from him. Just because I follow their orders doesn't mean I want to spend any more time with him than necessary.

I don't understand why they're doing this, though.

They're training up soldiers, Pansy. We're the next generation of Death Eaters, meant to keep things in line now that we've finally got control.

Teaching all of us isn't very smart, but... Nobody ever accused the Carrows of being overly intelligent.

The last thing we need is people like Longbottom and Jones knowing how to use the Unforgivables. They'll only use them to fight the Dark Lord, once they break down their moral objections, they'll realise that they've been given powerful weapons against the Death Eaters.

Or, they would if they were any more intelligent than the Carrows are.

I doubt they will. They'll be trying to defeat the Death Eaters to the last with expelliarmus and petrificus totalus.

Do you really think that? Even Longbottom seems to be trying. This isn't how I would do things around here at all. Not that I mind learning myself, but the idea of them knowing makes me uncomfortable.

They're half-bloods. They should not be in charge of something as important as Hogwarts. And I would have thought Professor Snape would be wise enough to see what's so flawed about this whole thing.

I mean, you didn't even have to push much to get Longbottom to try it, did you?

Professor Snape is smart enough not to question the Dark Lord when he's given an order. He probably sees exactly what is so flawed about it, but he can't do anything about it exactly try to curb the Carrows when they go too far. Right now, they're not doing anything that Umbridge and Moody haven't already done.

I think it was because it was me. He was actually eager to do it.

You don't think that the Dark Lord knows better than to teach his enemies powerful magic?

That scar wor is disconcerting. I mean, not that Longbottom is a big fat hypocrite, we could have guessed as much. But he's not much of a wizard. What if he messes up and scrambles your brains?

I think the Dark Lord believes that he can make everyone submit to his will eventually. So what's the point of not treating all of us with the proper qualities the same when we will all eventually be his loyal followers.

He seemed to do all right with his frog as long as it was close. But I doubt my brains will be scrambled. And if they are, either Madam Pomfrey or Professor Snape will be able to fix it, I'm sure.

But surely he must realise that some people are irredeemable, aren't even really worth trying to convince to come over to the right side. Longbottom -- his blood may be pure but who cares when he's a worthless wizard and opposes us at every turn? And then the likes of Jones, it's not as though she even has her blood to recommend her.

It seems like rather a large risk for them to have you take, though. At any rate, I suppose there's nothing we can do about it so I shouldn't complain, even if I'm apparently not any good at it, if Longbottom was managing and I wasn't, really.

Possibly. But everyone has to be given the option.

There's a lot of different factors involved, Pansy. Try not to worry about it too much, all right, and we'll find somewhere to practice in the next few days.

I'm less nervous and more frustrated. I know the Carrows are going to try something to "help" Slytherin get the win, but that isn't helping our House image at all. We can do it without the help, but nobody believes that because of them constantly giving us assistance.

It's not worth it to It's true. When they "helped" against Gryffindor, it just led everyone to believe that Slytherin has no Quidditch talent, which is obviously not true. Then they feel justified insulting you because it doesn't matter how well you played, you would have won anyway.

I think you can make it a short match, though.

I'm going to try. If I get a quick snitch catch before the Carrows manage to try anything, maybe people will actually finally believe that I didn't buy my way onto the team.

But some people will probably still think that no matter how amazing you are because they're determined to hate us.

I still want to know what any of them actually think they'd do in our positions. I keep trying to help them and they either don't see it or don't care. Can you believe Parvati Patil actually had the nerve to insult me for sticking up for her sister the other day?

I can considering she called me a selfish coward because I haven't told the Carrows not to 'help' us during Quidditch matches. Yes. I can see exactly how that conversation would go.

It ends with me getting hexed for being ungrateful.

Why does she think that we have any sort of control over them? She is such an idiot. I blame being Sorted into Gryffindor.

That would be a really bad idea. To be honest, I was worried he was going to round on me in Dark Arts the other day.

I have no idea. I would think it would be obvious that we can't control them when Professor Snape barely can.

We're all afraid of that, and I don't see why these people don't get it. Just because they're willing to let themselves get beaten to a pulp doesn't mean the rest of us are willing to risk it going too far.

That's why I want to make sure I get the Imperius Curse. I want to make sure that they still like me.

Hey. I was wondering, would you mind if Hannah Abbott joined us for practicing? She's concerned about getting the spell down correctly, and I offered to help, but I'm thinking doubling up on studying the same thing with two different people is probably not the best way to do it.
