I know most of you aren't happy about the position you're in. Being forced to take remedial lessons after classes are over on the very thing which you have no interest in learning defeats the very purpose of not trying in the class itself. And I'm certain that none of you have been placed in these lessons because you are incapable of performing the spell. Instead, you feel you're making some sort of ethical and moral stance against the very idea of teaching spells which have been deemed 'unforgivable' in the first place. So I pray that you are willing to listen to the argument which I plan to put forth.
Carrow neither cares for nor understands your objections. In his view, the very fact that you objecting to learning such useful magic amounts to little more than petty disrespect and highlights the amount of pathetic and filthy muggle which inhabits your veins, and it will only continue to enrage him. What you have witnessed him do so far to try and correct your objections is horrifying, yes, but for him displays a great level of restraint in what he is willing to do if you continue to disobey.
I am not saying any of this to try and frighten you into doing as you're told. Carrow can do that on his own. What I am saying I am saying in the hopes that you will understand the situation in which you find yourselves. There will be no not doing this spell. He will take whatever avenue which he deems appropriate in order to force your hand. He will ride the issue until you cave, or someone who care about is gravely injured. Whichever comes first.
So for your own sake and the sake of those around you, just do it. There is no harm in what you are being asked to do at the moment. The amount of control which you take, and the things which you request of whatever you in are in control of are strictly up to you. The Imperius can be used for a host of truly awful things, and in the hands of the wrong individual, it can be just as lethal as either of the other Unforgivables. But all you are being asked to do is to make some animals perform some party tricks, and that is no reason for anyone to suffer.
